The landscape of golf has been changing rapidly throughout SWFL. Traditional courses are expensive to maintain, and memberships across the state have seen a drastic dropoff.
In 2020, two new attractions are coming to Ft. Myers that will breathe new life into the old game of golf. Imagine a 3-story building with climate controlled bays, food, and beverages.
TopGolf will attract a younger demographic to the game of golf from private parties to corporate events, and with over 50 locations, including Tampa, Oralndo, and Miami, TopGolf is bound to be a major new attraction coming to Ft. Myers.
With 237 rooms spanning 12 stories, the Luminary Hotel will bring an upscale and fresh hotel option to downtown Ft. Myers with 3 new restaurants:
It's flagship restaurant, Silver King Ocean Brasserie will feature fresh seafood in an upscale environment. Ella Mae's Diner will feature an all-American menu with lighter versions of common favorites. Beacon Social Drinkery is the Luminary's rooftop bar. Overlooking the Caloosahatchee, you will find alcoholic beverages of all kinds, as well as small plates here.
The hotel's focus will be on community events and involvement, with an on- site culinary theater offering cooking classes and events for private and corporate gatherings.
Indoor and outdoor fitness options are in the plans, too, as well as indoor and outdoor wedding and event venues. This will be so much more than just another hotel.
Set to open doors in August of 2021, classes will officially start 2020 inside 20 portables staged at Lehigh Senior High School.
Once completed, the high school will house approximately 2,000 students in the East Zone of Ft. Myers.
As Lee county's newest school, this is slated to be the most secure campus. A variety of classes will include carpentry, cybersecurity, veterinary and medical assisting.
Additional schools in the East zone of Ft. Myers will continue to support a rapidly growing area.
There are over 30 new housing developments currently in permitting inside the Ft. Myers city limits alone.
These include primarily apartment complexes, as an answer to demand for more affordable and short term housing.
As the city population continues to grow, particularly apartment complexes are becoming more and more popular.
Additional multi-family and mixed-use developments, as well as a handful of single family home communities are in the works, as well.
Several downtown Ft. Myers projects include mixed-use developments that promise top floor condos with ground level retail options.
