The following individuals do not need fishing permits in Florida: 

• Children under 16 years of age
• Florida residents 65 years of age or older
• Totally and permanently disabled Florida residents
• Some exemptions also apply to military personnel
• Fishing on your homestead or the homestead of a spouse or child
